the Arts
With a career rooted in the arts, I developed skills in marketing campaigns across print, outdoor, and digital media. This foundational experience fostered a deep appreciation for print production, which continues today. My experience began at the Melbourne Arts Centre, and has continued through a 15-year relationship with Gallerysmith, and a decade of freelance work with the Melbourne Theatre Company.
Art direction
& curation
I worked as Co-Artistic Curator and Art Director for HIV Science as Art, an initiative at the intersection of science, art and advocacy. The project paired 12 HIV-positive artists with researchers to translate scientific findings into original artworks. Through exhibitions, artworks were auctioned to fund 45 micro-grants for HIV networks across the Asia Pacific, Africa, Middle East and Eastern Europe regions.

‘I have worked with Daniel on many projects since 2006. When I opened my new business in 2008 I asked him to develop a new corporate identity. The logo he designed has retained its currency, my branding is widely recognised and I still love it. Daniel is a great designer with a good eye and a professional manner.’
MARITA SMITH – Director, Gallerysmith
‘The ICASO leadership recognised the exceptional work that Daniel had achieved on creating a new and unified visual identity for the ICASO brand. His design acumen combined with with creative talent meant that he was an obvious choice to bring on as the tenured graphic designer to the agency to create an ICASO identity across then conference. From academic posters to promotional banners and marquee items through to several policy papers, critical global situation reports, and advocacy materials (in multiple languages) linked to political, social justice and human rights issues.’
BRENT ALLAN – Senior Advisor, Policy & Programs
‘Daniel and I collaborated on the HIV Science and Art exhibition in Brisbane in 2023, where I participated as an artist, and he served as one of the co-curators. He brought together artists from around the world, which is a demanding task made more complex by our varied working styles. However he handled it with care, precision, and generosity. Daniel was attentive, meticulous in his planning, and consistently supportive throughout the process. If I had the opportunity to work with him again, I wouldn’t hesitate to say yes!’
ANDREW CHAN – Artist
‘Daniel designed the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Journal for three years. During this time he was an integral member of the team by, lifting the Journal’s design to a high professional standard, contributing to the website, EDMs and other reports. Always enthusiastic and solution focused, Daniel is always a pleasure to work with and I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a graphic designer.

‘Daniel was wonderful to work with at all stages of a web design project. He provided clear and timely guidance on design options and costs that perfectly met my project needs. Daniel and his team were very flexible in developing solutions to add content to an existing web platform. I am 100% happy with the work Daniel delivered and highly recommend his services.’
DR NOLA RIES – Professor Faculty of Law, UTS
‘Daniel crafted a full visual identity for Health+Law - logos, report templates, flexible styles, colour palettes and bespoke illustrations representing different elements of our work. He is that rare kind of thoughtful, deeply attentive designer: listening carefully for what is most important in the work and finding ways to elevate that. His design transforms our research into bold, readable, visually striking communications, full of colour and with unexpected touches that spark attention. Who says legal and public health research outputs have to be staid and conservative? Daniel finds ways to bring our work vividly and engagingly to life, giving it boldness and confidence without sacrificing seriousness or gravitas. This is so valuable to us, as our readers span the gamut of healthcare, policy, legal, community, and research audiences. And working with Daniel is effortless. He’s responsive, collaborative, without ego, and the process is always smooth and a pleasure. A flawless collaborator and designer at the forefront of creative research communication.’
DR DION KAGAN – Research Associate, Health+Law
‘Working with an area that doesn’t lend itself to showy graphic design, Daniel has played a key role in the design of Public Accountant magazine for Edge and the Institute of Public Accountants. He brings great ideas and terrific execution as well as an energising enthusiasm. Someone you look forward to having design meetings with, because he always delivers.’

‘Daniel’s design layouts for Textile Fibre Forum magazine are always well-considered and effective. The articles are strong on imagery, and his placement of photographs create striking spreads and dramatic openers. He often surprises me with his ability to identify details in photographs that can be cropped and used in creative ways. I enjoy working with him and seeing the results of our combined efforts come to fruition in each issue of the magazine.’
MOIRA SIMPSON – Editor, Textile Fibre Forum
‘Daniel is wonderful to work with, hence why we’ve continued our working relationship on various projects. Besides beautiful design, I appreciate his collaborative approach and the cake topper…he’s always on time.’
